India is set to further deepen its strategic engagement with Sri Lanka as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh prepares for a three-day official visit to the island nation from September 8 to 10, 2026. The visit comes as New Delhi continues to strengthen defence and maritime cooperation with its close regional partner.
According to the Ministry of Defence, Singh will hold discussions with the Sri Lankan leadership on a range of issues of mutual interest during the visit. The engagement is expected to provide an opportunity for both sides to review ongoing defence cooperation and explore avenues for expanding bilateral security ties.
The visit will also underline the importance India attaches to its relationship with Sri Lanka, particularly in the maritime domain.
