President Murmu Calls for Stronger India-Romania Economic Partnership, Invites Businesses to Explore New Opportunities

President Droupadi Murmu has urged India and Romania to deepen their economic and investment partnership, highlighting the vast untapped potential between the two countries. Addressing the India-Romania Business Forum during her State Visit to Bucharest, the President said that stronger commercial engagement would open new avenues for trade, technology collaboration, manufacturing, and innovation.

Speaking before business leaders and government representatives from both nations, President Murmu emphasized that India is undergoing rapid economic transformation under the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. She invited Romanian companies to actively participate in India’s growth journey by investing in emerging sectors such as advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, renewable energy, infrastructure, healthcare, and innovation-driven industries.

The President noted that economic cooperation has become a key pillar of India-Romania relations and stressed the need for stronger business-to-business partnerships. She said that both countries possess complementary strengths that can support resilient supply chains, increase bilateral investments, and promote technology exchange. According to her, expanding collaboration between industries will help unlock long-term economic benefits for both nations.

President Murmu also underlined Romania’s strategic importance as India’s partner within the European Union. She observed that the evolving India-European Union economic framework would create fresh opportunities for businesses, skilled professionals, and investors from both sides. Enhanced market access and closer commercial cooperation, she added, would further strengthen bilateral ties in the years ahead.

Her address at the India-Romania Business Forum forms part of her official State Visit to Romania, the final leg of her three-nation diplomatic tour of Eastern Europe. The visit reflects India’s growing focus on expanding strategic, economic, and political engagement with European partners while encouraging greater participation of global businesses in India’s development story.
