Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni arrived in New Delhi on Thursday to participate in the BRICS Ministers of Interior Meeting, where member nations are expected to discuss closer cooperation on counter-terrorism, cybersecurity, transnational crime, border security, and disaster management. His visit underscores Iran’s continued engagement with BRICS partners on regional and global security issues.
Momeni was received at Indira Gandhi International Airport by senior officials from India’s Ministry of Home Affairs along with Iran’s Ambassador to India. During his stay, the Iranian minister is expected to hold bilateral discussions with Indian officials on expanding security cooperation and strengthening coordination between the two countries on issues of mutual concern.
The BRICS Interior Ministers’ meeting is focusing on key security challenges facing member nations, including terrorism, organised crime, cyber threats, narcotics trafficking, and the misuse of emerging technologies by criminal and extremist groups. Delegates are also expected to exchange best practices on intelligence sharing, law enforcement cooperation, and crisis response mechanisms.
