Prime Minister Narendra Modi has highlighted India’s remarkable progress in defence production and exports during his latest Mann Ki Baat address, underlining the country’s growing capabilities in indigenous defence manufacturing and its emergence as a global defence partner.
During the programme, PM Modi spoke about the achievements of India’s defence sector and appreciated the efforts of scientists, engineers, armed forces personnel and domestic manufacturers who are contributing to strengthening the nation’s defence capabilities.
India’s defence industry has witnessed significant transformation in recent years, with a strong focus on self-reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. India’s defence exports have also registered substantial growth, reflecting the increasing global acceptance of Indian-made military products. Defence equipment developed and manufactured in India is now reaching multiple international markets, strengthening the country’s position as a reliable defence supplier.
The expansion of defence exports is also supporting the growth of India’s defence ecosystem by creating opportunities for startups, MSMEs and private defence manufacturers. The growing involvement of domestic industries is helping accelerate innovation and improve India’s ability to develop advanced defence solutions.
PM Modi’s remarks during Mann Ki Baat highlighted how the combined efforts of government agencies, defence organisations and private industry are contributing to India’s journey towards becoming self-reliant in defence.
With continued investment in research, technology and indigenous manufacturing, India is aiming to further strengthen its defence capabilities while expanding its footprint in the global defence market.
