Indian Army Team Leaves for Cambodia to Join Second Edition of CINBAX Military Exercise

An Indian Army contingent has departed for Cambodia to participate in the second edition of the bilateral military exercise CINBAX-II, reinforcing the growing defence partnership between the two nations.

The exercise is scheduled to take place from May 4 to May 17, 2026, at a key training facility in Cambodia. It will involve troops from both the Indian Army and the Royal Cambodian Army, with each side contributing a sizeable number of personnel for the joint drills.

CINBAX-II is structured as a company-level exercise aimed at enhancing coordination and interoperability between the two forces, particularly in sub-conventional warfare scenarios. The training is expected to focus on counter-terrorism operations, peacekeeping missions, and joint tactical planning in complex environments.

During the course of the exercise, soldiers will participate in a series of field drills, combat simulations, and knowledge-sharing sessions. These activities are designed to help both sides understand each other’s operational procedures and improve their ability to work together during multinational missions.

Special emphasis will be placed on modern combat techniques, including the use of advanced equipment, small team tactics, and coordinated response strategies in semi-urban terrain. The exercise will also incorporate elements aligned with United Nations peacekeeping frameworks, preparing troops for global deployment scenarios.

Defence officials view CINBAX-II as an important platform for strengthening military-to-military engagement between India and Cambodia. It not only promotes professional exchanges but also builds trust and long-term cooperation between the armed forces of both countries.

The first edition of the exercise was conducted in India, and hosting the second edition in Cambodia highlights the reciprocal nature of the partnership. As both nations continue to expand their defence ties, such joint exercises are expected to play a key role in ensuring regional stability and fostering collaborative security efforts.
