India has issued a 2,530-kilometre Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) over a vast stretch of the Indian Ocean, signalling preparations for what is widely expected to be a long-range missile test. The temporary restriction, effective during August 6-7, 2026, establishes a designated safety corridor extending from the Odisha coast into the Indian Ocean, where civilian aircraft and maritime traffic will be restricted while the trial takes place.
The large size of the notified zone has drawn attention within the defence community, as India typically issues such NOTAMs before conducting strategic missile launches from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) located on Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast.
