Indian Navy Receives Sixth Nilgiri-Class Frigate ‘Mahendragiri’ Under Project 17A

The Indian Navy has strengthened its frontline capabilities with the delivery of Mahendragiri, the sixth stealth frigate under the Nilgiri-class being developed as part of Project 17A. The handover marks another key milestone in India’s ongoing naval modernization programme.

Mahendragiri is part of a series of advanced warships designed to enhance the Navy’s ability to operate effectively across multiple domains, including air, surface, and underwater combat. Built with a focus on stealth and advanced operational capability, the frigate reflects the next phase of evolution in indigenous warship design.
