India Strengthens Maritime Ties with Myanmar as Navy Chief Holds Strategic Talks

India has taken another important step in expanding its maritime outreach in Southeast Asia, with Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi engaging in key discussions with Myanmar’s naval leadership during his official visit to the country.

During his visit, Admiral Tripathi met senior commanders of the Myanmar Navy in Yangon, where both sides reviewed the current state of bilateral naval engagement and explored opportunities to deepen cooperation. The discussions were aimed at reinforcing defence collaboration, particularly in areas such as maritime security, joint training initiatives, and operational coordination.

The visit reflects India’s broader strategic approach to strengthening defence partnerships with neighbouring and regional countries.
