In a move aimed at strengthening the security of India’s critical aviation infrastructure, the Indian Army has launched a specialised 14-day training programme for Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel deployed at Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport in Agartala. The initiative is designed to improve operational readiness and enhance coordination between the Army and CISF in addressing evolving security challenges.
The programme is being conducted at the Agartala Military Station under the supervision of experienced Army instructors. During the two-week course, CISF personnel will undergo advanced tactical training covering multiple aspects of airport and infrastructure security, including counter-drone operations, quick reaction drills, protection of vital installations, and response to emergency situations.
Officials said the training reflects the growing emphasis on inter-agency cooperation as security threats continue to evolve. With airports becoming increasingly vulnerable to unconventional risks such as drone intrusions and sabotage attempts, specialised skill development has become a key priority for security forces tasked with protecting strategic assets.
The Indian Army’s Spear Corps is leading the initiative, with the objective of familiarising CISF personnel with military-grade operational procedures and tactical response mechanisms. Practical exercises and scenario-based training sessions are expected to help participants improve situational awareness, coordination, and rapid decision-making during security incidents.
Upon completion of the programme, the trained CISF personnel will return to their operational duties at Agartala’s MBB Airport with enhanced capabilities to respond to a wide range of security situations. Officials believe the initiative will further strengthen the overall security architecture of one of the Northeast’s key aviation hubs while reinforcing cooperation between the armed forces and central security agencies.
The training programme is part of broader efforts to improve preparedness across India’s critical infrastructure network through regular joint exercises, knowledge sharing, and the adoption of modern security practices to counter emerging threats.
