Mahindra Aerostructures Pvt. Ltd. (MASPL), part of the Mahindra Group, has secured a new contract from Airbus to manufacture and supply fuselage skins for the A320 family of aircraft, strengthening the company’s position in Airbus’ global aerospace supply chain and expanding India’s role in advanced aircraft manufacturing.
Under the multi-year agreement, Mahindra Aerostructures will manufacture fuselage skins for Sections 18 and 19, which cover the rear fuselage and tail areas of the Airbus A320neo and A321XLR. The components will be produced at the company’s Bengaluru facility and shipped to Airbus’ manufacturing site in Augsburg, Germany, where they will be integrated into aircraft production.
The contract covers the production of eight fuselage skins for Section 18 and three for Section 19. Mahindra Aerostructures said the programme complements its recently concluded roll-forming contract with Airbus and supports its longer-term strategy of developing capabilities to manufacture larger fuselage sections in India.
To support the programme, the company is expanding specialised manufacturing capabilities in areas including chemical milling, surface treatment and stretch forming. Engineering work is already underway, including tooling design, process-flow updates, qualification and inspection activities, with deliveries targeted to begin in 2028.
The latest agreement builds on a relationship between Mahindra Aerostructures and Airbus that has expanded steadily in recent years. MASPL has previously secured Airbus contracts for manufacturing and assembling the main fuselages of the H125 and H130 helicopters, while also supplying components and sub-assemblies for Airbus commercial aircraft programmes.
The new A320 family programme is significant because it moves Mahindra Aerostructures further into the production of complex aircraft structures requiring precision manufacturing at scale. Airbus has highlighted the contract as part of its effort to strengthen its global supply chain while increasing the contribution of India’s aerospace manufacturing sector.
The development also reinforces the broader Make in India push in aerospace manufacturing, with critical aircraft structures being produced domestically for one of the world’s most widely used commercial aircraft families. For Mahindra Aerostructures, the Airbus contract represents another step toward establishing deeper capabilities in high-value aerostructure manufacturing and supporting India’s emergence as an important global aerospace production hub
