India is extending diplomatic and consular assistance following an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, that killed 12 people and injured more than 300 others on October 10, 2026. Eleven Indian nationals were initially reported among the injured. However, the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia subsequently confirmed that one of the injured Indian nationals had died, while 10 others remained injured.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar expressed grief over the loss of the Indian national and assured that the Indian Embassy was taking all necessary steps to support those affected. The embassy conveyed its condolences to the bereaved family and said it was coordinating with them to facilitate the early repatriation of the deceased person’s mortal remains. Indian officials are also working with local authorities and hospitals to obtain information about the condition of the injured nationals and provide assistance where required.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) strongly condemned the repeated attacks on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport, describing strikes against civilians and civilian infrastructure as completely unacceptable. India called for an immediate end to such attacks, expressed condolences to the families of those killed and wished the injured a speedy recovery. New Delhi also reaffirmed its solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for the kingdom’s sovereignty, while expressing hope for an early return to peace and normalcy in the region.
Saudi Arabia has blamed Houthi militants for the attack, which forms part of a wider escalation in security threats across the region. The airport has faced repeated attacks in recent days, raising concerns about civilian safety, aviation security and the wider impact on international air travel. The incident has also highlighted the risks faced by foreign nationals working and travelling in the Gulf region as tensions continue to intensify.
Amid the deteriorating security situation, the Indian Embassy had advised Indian nationals in Saudi Arabia to remain alert and vigilant, stay indoors when necessary and follow instructions issued by local authorities. The latest developments underline the importance of monitoring official advisories and maintaining contact with Indian diplomatic missions during emergencies. India continues to coordinate with Saudi authorities to assist affected citizens and support the family of the deceased Indian national.
